INSPIRATION:
The theme is softness and Lightness like floating in the air. Mau means dancing like floating in Japanese. Some people don’t prefer alcohol perfume as most of them smell too strong in their standard. However, waxed perfume’s soft smell seems more suitable for them.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The mau is a Japanese-oriented waxed perfume. Waxed perfume has a soft smell that spreads calmness and this is wrapped by washi that is Japanese traditional paper. A touch of watercolor is used to depict the softness of fragrance and sensitive sense.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Waxed perfume makes it possible to enjoy wrapped in favorite fragrance even if people who don't prefer strong smell.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
A wax is mixed with jojoba oil and essential oil while being hot. When everything is blended together, pour waxed perfume into paper tube made of washi (This is a conceptual work, so it's a hypothetical production method).

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Some people don’t prefer alcohol perfume as most of them smell too strong. However, waxed perfume has a soft smell that spreads calmness, which seems more suitable for consumer who have an aversion to strong smells.

CHALLENGE:
It can use only paper without plastics for package as wax perfume's water content is less than alcohol one.

Mau is a stunning example of good design that has rightfully earned the A' Design Award in Packaging Design. The delicate mix of waxed perfume, washi paper and watercolor touches creates a sense of softness and lightness that feels like it is floating in the air. I absolutely love the way the waxed perfume of "Mau" is presented with a delicate touch of watercolor. The use of washi, a traditional Japanese paper, adds a beautiful and subtle feel to the packaging design. The combination of the waxed perfume and watercolor artwork truly adds to the sense of calmness and relaxation that the product provides. I am absolutely in awe of the beautiful design of Mau! The use of washi and watercolor to depict the softness of fragrance creates a unique and special experience.
