| DESIGN NAME: Smart wall PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: The existed hallway was straightly open to the dining area, a relatively private area. The living room, a relatively public area, is on the left of the hallway with some height difference. Thus, a stairway with several steps was set between the two. The left of basement seemed not practicable to build a audio-visual hall on the existed left part as it was a too long space to make projection on the wall, and the width was not suitable either. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Two inclined walls was designed with folding lines to tighten the vision of relatively large stairway and to set a visual block for the dining area, so as to lead guests directly to the living room on the left. A partition wall was built in between, and the direction of stairway changed to the left , also the existed aisle renovated to increase the width of projection wall, so as to make the sight distance normal. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2018 and finished in December 2019 in Changsha. The existed hallway was straightly open to the dining area, a relatively private area. The living room, a relatively public area, is on the left of the hallway with some height difference. And the second challenge we met was the dining area almost surrounded by aisles with no complete wall. The basement seemed not practicable to build a audio-visual hall on the existed left part as it was a too long space to make projection on the wall, and the width was not suitable either.
