DESIGN NAME: Neo-Oriental Art
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sales Center
INSPIRATION: Following the focal point of the central axis and past the water yard in the atrium, one lays their eyes on a chrysanthemum in bloom, which represents the former prosperity of the city of Kaifeng. A liquid display screen horizontally unfolds like the major axis of an ancient painting.
This is a non-commercialized space full of true Eastern philosophy that can be seen at the same time as an art gallery, a teahouse and also a way to experience what really is true Song Dynasty aestheticism.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The approach to spatial layout is rooted in the aesthetic thought of the Chinese Song Dynasty. It can represent "voidness aesthetics" via the reflecting water in the courtyard.Which is the core essence of Song Art.
Looks void but infill full.
The experience of traipsing through a Chinese garden transformed through the interior elements of looking, wearing, circling, the framing of a scene and the borrowing of scenery.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Along the corridors of the building are columns and the interior columns are enhanced with lighting effects. This series of corridors and doors is used to create a feeling of spatial sequentiality. A large amount of indirect and diffused light is used to create a restrained and tranquil atmosphere that one can appreciate as uniquely Asian and emphasizes the horizontal stretching and unfolding of the horizontal.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The latticed door of the VIP room is made using Georgian wired cast glass. There is a life-like hand painted bluebird on the silk that has the appearance of ever so slightly shuttling to and fro.
