| DESIGN NAME: Square-Clock PRIMARY FUNCTION: Clock INSPIRATION: Nothing can be overlooked. People often have a lot of overlooked widgets around them but they should not ignore these details because these humble widgets have their own value. So the desginer finds the second hand of the clock unremarkable in daily life which make her rethinks the real function of the second hand. The change of hour hand and minute hand is very slow and small, but the change of second hand is very intuitive. When people look at the clock without a second hand, they usually have a moment of hesitation and check whether the clock still runs. Therefore, the function of the second hand here is simply to verify the clock is running. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a wall clock design that changes the traditional second hand into a small square. When people look at a clock without a second hand, they usually have a moment of hesitation and check whether the clock still runs. Therefore, the function of the second hand here is simply to verify the clock is running. So, the desginer sets the traditional second hand as a small square to weaken the indicative function of it. When you look at the clock, you will notice that the square is rotating in a tick-tick motion. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: At the bottom of the Square-Clock is a piece that can be hung on the wall, so people can easily hang it on the wall. In addition, you can also replace the clock movement or battery. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2019 and finished in January 2020 in China.
