| DESIGN NAME: Studio S Low Profile PRIMARY FUNCTION: Toilet INSPIRATION: TThe Studio S one-piece, ultra-high efficiency toilet is a low profile, sleek, contemporary styled skirted design. In the midcentury modern era, one-piece toilets were very popular; however, previous designs required a great deal of water, and manufacturers stopped making them due to water usage restrictions. American Standard has introduced an updated version to appeal to contemporary tastes, combining minimalist design with breakthrough technology that provides astonishing performance. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: TThe Studio S one-piece toilet is a low profile, sleek, skirted design with a slow-close seat. American Standard has introduced an updated version of a low-profile one-piece toilet to appeal to current contemporary tastes, combining a new minimalist design with breakthrough technology that removes the tank completely while providing enhanced performance. The tankless toilet uses an ultra-efficient 3.8-liter flush volume, earning a best MaP PREMIUM category flush score, and features American Standard’s innovative low noise PowerFlo hydraulic technology. In keeping with the minimalist aesthetic, the toilet has a top based, color-matched flush actuator integrated in the seat, with other benefits being that the toilet is easy to clean and does not require electrical power. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The American Standard Studio S Low Profile One-Piece Toilet offers ultra-high efficiency and superior flushing performance without sacrificing on style. The tankless, minimalist design marries contemporary design with state of the art technology to deliver a sleek profile and a quiet flush, featuring American Standard’s innovative low noise PowerFlo hydraulic technology, requiring no electricity. The skirted bowl creates a clean appearance, as well as an easier cleaning experience. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2017 in New Jersey and finished in October 2019. The product was exhibited at the KBIS 2020 show in Las Vegas in January 2020. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Using a new technology allowing the designer a shift in paradigm is always exciting. This happened by using our new PowerFlo technology. This new technology allows us to get rid of the tank. Working closely with the team of engineers we were able to lodge the pressurized system at the back of the toilet. The door was open for a brand new sleek design. The toilet is made of porcelain. The PowerFlo system includes two canisters for water storage pressurized using the water line pressure. No electricity is needed. Adding to the beauty of the toilet is the virtually silent operation.
