| DESIGN NAME: ReGreen PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tiny Compost Machine INSPIRATION: Food waste is always an important subject for the economy and environment. It not only consumes resources on earth but causes ecological burden indeed. People shall have a clear understanding of the issues influencing food waste-related consumer perceptions and behaviors. Therefore, ReGreen is the ideal solution that can recycle and take good advantages of wasted food perfectly. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With unique Biology and fertilizer technology, ReGreen was designed by busing a convenient way to resolve food waste without any energy. Advanced technology making Re Green turns the wasted food into organic soil and compost in just a few weeks. It perfectly solves the difficulties of obtaining organic compost in the metropolitans OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 1. Putting food waste in the shredding part and shredding it into small pieces; waste residual will drop down to the Compost box. 2. Adding enzymes to compost box and covering it; the compost will become organic soil and compost tea in few, weeks. Organic soil can planting, compost tea can be fertilizer. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: ReGreen started in Taoyuan, Taiwan in August 2018 and was finished in Taoyuan, Taiwan in May 2019. It was on display at “InnoVEX Special Exhibition” Taipei, Taiwan in May 2019, “TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2019” San Francisco, the USA in October 2019 and “Meet Taipei Startup Festival”. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Made of metal and enhanced glass, ReGreen is durable, easy to clean and recyclable. The distinct structural design is by the principle of circulation and environmentally friendly, which can be easily disassembled and recycled. With the unique design, ReGreen can suppress odors and prevent bugs efficiently. According to the model experiments and statistics examination, plants used organic soil made from the ReGreen system that grew the thriving and flourishing plants. CHALLENGE: The main challenge in creating the ReGreen is to develop a system that could inspire users’ interesting and continuous usage. The design needed stylish and elegance but with practical value. This is a fun and functional product with environmental education orientation. The most valuable goal is to reuse the leftover food and return the good bacteria to the ground.
