DESIGN NAME: Every Local's Centre
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Kinetic Multimedia Installation
INSPIRATION: Visually this conceptual design triggers the following associations: modern, inclusive, consistent, high-tech, spectacular, and reflects the client's activities and projects. The kinetic installation introduced the My District urban development program and key data on its implementation to the Moscow Urban Forum participants. The program displays balanced development of all the city's districts with access to the high-quality infrastructure a comfortable environment and uniqueness of each district.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The exhibition booth Every Local's Centre for Moscow City Governement is designed as an interactive science-tech art object with integrated mechanisms and a convertible model of the city. The installation also includes drone videos and 3D motion design content produced especially for the project. They are displayed on the outer surfaces, walls and floor of the cube-shaped booth made of black plate-glass mirror, which adds to the immersive feeling.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When activated, the installation presents two levels: the upper one is digital city model symbolizing on-line services for citizens being implemented in Moscow; the lower one is the district’s convertible model that was transforming every time dependent on the user’s choice. The LED-screens covering the cube and booth walls and floor showed content with animated infographics. Installation had two regimes- demo that was operating automatically and user's mode with controls on iPad and custom-made software that managed both content and kinetic parts of the installation.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2019 and finished in Yuly 2019 in Moscow, and was exhibited in Mosurbanforum in Yuly 2019.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Central part of the installation had 17 integrated mechanisms of three different types. All exterior surfaces were covered with LED panels installed over the core steel structure. Inside the cube were two types of landscape models - realistic transformable city model on the lower level that was changing depending on user’s choice and acrylic city model with integrated manageable lights on higher level inside the cube. Floor was made of triplex glass and exterior walls of the booth were made of vinyl cloths both with integrated LED screens.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Installation had two regimes- demo that was showing automatically and user’s that was managed with interactive software on iPad.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As the main aim of the project was to present urban development program, three main components: comfort, quality and uniqueness, were used as basis for the cube, that's why it has three layers each corresponding to one of the components with different city models inside. Testing period of the project took over 3 weeks and during it serious changes were made to kinetic part of the installation: changing mechanism's construction, programming speed of operation, testing software as well as to motion design content: different effects were tested of LED-surfaces.
CHALLENGE: The engineering solution was unique and technically difficult to implement, so it took extra time for the development build and testing.
