| DESIGN NAME: Link To The World PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence INSPIRATION: HOME is a starting point for everyone before walking toward the world. It is a transition for the owner who just left his parent's house and bought his own in his 30s. Hoping the space becomes another starting point, through the connection and interaction with different people - a home that linked himself to the world. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Within this limited space, aRctualize Lab. give up the traditional TV wall and plant the idea of 'interaction from people' and become a 'world connection knobs' on the wall. Taking the night view shot of the world as the base reference for the design idea, the level of light represented the interaction and density of people located on earth. Through digital fabrication program, the world map engraved onto the wall and become a feature right at the entrance. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The core is always the interaction between people and between spaces. The design team hope to create a comfortable home that can fit within different scale that creates the warmth of the space and stories to tie up people in all relationships. The room measures only 35 square meters across, the design team think through all set up for the owner to keep its flexibility for all kinds of situations. It can be a cozy home for his alone time or using sliding partition to divide functions in the space for two or could be open up for a bigger group as well - to fulfill each different purposes within the space. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: aRtualize Lab. sacrificed the regular TV wall set up in the suite and import the idea of 'link to the world' onto the wall and become a feature at the entry. Inspired from the night view of the world, the design team fabricated through digital program to get the graphic map and each spot represent where people have interaction and where comes the light at night. The size of the hole shows the activity and density of people of the location, and where ever the owner have visited will placed an acrylic mark that twinkle the story he got linked to the world. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The graphic is done through lazier cut on metal board to give a modern and high technology feeling to represent the owner as a young engineer. TAGS: Link to the world, World Map, interior Design, LOFT, residence, aRctualize Lab RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Honoring the relationship and interaction between people is always the focus in aRctualize Lab's design. The owner is someone likes to make friends. He would like to bring the idea of 'feeling connected to the world' into his home design. Therefore, this is the core thing to think about throughout this project. the design team implant this idea into the design and make the world map transform and represent the interaction between people on this land becoming the main feature. After a long day, when the owner came back home to rest and see through the light glimmer out from the world map that reflect and embraced himself into this active world. CHALLENGE: In order to visualize the concept, how to create a residence that provides both stableness as a 'home' and also fun that creates interaction with other people at the same time is quite challenging in this project. Through leather and styled texture and textile selection to warm up the space from the iron coldness and clear glass is also one of the challenges for this case.
