| DESIGN NAME: Forging the Innovation Pathway PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office Design INSPIRATION: The design revolves around creating a community through a human-centric approach. The experiential hub is beyond the desk or meeting rooms, focusing more on dynamic connections that link spaces & people for heightened interactions. The idea was to fuel the space to cater to the diverse needs of employees, promoting balance between work & wellness. The spatial design features angulating & progressive lines along key areas, embodying the idea of technological advancement, innovation & dynamis. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Inspired by the Shopee’s commitment to invest and grow in Singapore and the region, this experiential hub was designed with people in mind. Conceived based on the idea of a thriving ecosystem within a campus setting, this regional headquarters is slated to support Shopee’s expansion plans by facilitating stronger teamwork and knowledge sharing among a generation of technological talents. It is a thriving community where they can work, live and socialise. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2018, and was completed in July 2019 at 5 Science Park Drive, Singapore. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 241,500 square feet across six floors. TAGS: - RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design team had to familiarize with the fundamentals of housing all employees in one building in order to facilitate cross-functional collaboration. Client was specific about the exciting features they wanted in the space. Our designers had to thoroughly understand the business goals to offer recommendations in space planning and allocation. Connectivity is achieved through a synergy (via a majestic internal staircase) of smaller units across the 6 floors, bringing together a curation of different zones that connect users and places in one identity. CHALLENGE: DB&B had earlier created Shopee’s workplace guideline, which was implemented in other regional offices. In this headquarters, we have enhanced the functional and design aspect of their current workplace environment- an office space that is more inclined to the employee’s well-being and how they can fully best utilize the facilities in different type of work setting from before. We also introduced a co-working space as an added work setting.
