DESIGN NAME: Brescia Hommage
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hypercar
INSPIRATION: The Brescia Hommage looks back to the cultural heritage and genius of Ettore Bugatti in the search for emotional beauty and speed and finds inspiration in the 1910 Type 13 (one of the first road cars to use a 16-valve engine), in addition with the P100 air racer (with its dual straight-eight, precursor of the modern W16 engine concept), but at the same time, it looks to present day pathway of high-tech-low-touch-iphonish-like vehicles with disappointment and a certain nostalgia for the "good old school" zeitgeist while trying to synthesize all these feelings, perhaps, in the last "pur-sang des automobiles".
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Brescia Type 13 was the first real Bugatti constructed by legendary Italian Designer-Engineer Ettore Bugatti in a time when the expression man/machine had a whole different meaning. In an era of eco-friendly box designs, soulless touch screens, and high-tech connectivity so disconnected to the essence of our 5 basic senses, the Brescia Hommage intends to celebrate our maybe soon forgotten capacity as emotional and rational beings to create sheer power dressed in absolute beauty.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Brescia Hommage was thought as device to celebrate how far we have come. It is a vehicle beyond the capacities of a regular driver. It was imagined as the fastest road-worthy machine out there with a brutal acceleration in addition to gripping qualities and fantastic aerodynamics to cutting through air effortless. By pushing the gas pedal down, one would probably find its own limit, but not the limit of the car. It is a machine of emotions, an object to be admired, respected and, why not, feared.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began as an embryonic idea back in the first months of 2019 in Wolfsburg, Germany, but only started to take shape with the first researches and creative sketches in the middle of January 2020. It was concluded in around the beginning of March of the same year, roughly a two months project.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Brescia Hommage project started with establishing a briefing, advancing with the researching phase, selecting mood board themes, engaging with traditional pencil to paper sketching ideation, defining overall proportions, moving to 3D CAS modelling, checking back and forth design development using virtual reality equipment, and finally using CGI for creating photorealistic presentation imagery. As for technology and materials, the project envisages a lightweight carbon fibre monocoque and alloys, elegantly dressed in also carbon fibre composite outer panels.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Brescia Hommage was designed with the intention of being one of a kind hypercar keeping the fallowing dimensions: Wheelbase 2,75 mm, Length 4,6 mm, Width 2,05 mm and Height 1,18 mm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Brescia Hommage project is a combination of in locus practical experience in the car design industry in addition with a personal perspective of how a whole heritage of over a century of always state of the art technology should be praised and remembered. Link, glue and tie all this with cutting edge design technologies and methodologies and the Brescia Hommage project makes a sole statement, instead of a democratic experimentation.
CHALLENGE: An automobile is a very complex product usually developed by a team of different experts in a facility plenty of resources, thus achieving the same quality on an individual basis is never an easy task. In the other hand, in regard of styling issues, most of the challenge to be overcome in the Brescia Hommage project was focused in establishing a new yet recognizable design language that respected the cultural past of the mark while, at the same time, looked into today's product branding and, finally, converged to propose tomorrow's guidelines.
