| DESIGN NAME: niroKey PRIMARY FUNCTION: Face Scanner INSPIRATION: With the development of face recognition technology, related products have begun to be used in access control, conference sign-in, company attendance, visitor reception, and payment scenarios. Now the products in the market are mainly targeted at one single scenario. Different scenarios require different products to be deployed, and enterprise needs complex deployments. We hope to produce a universal product that can cover all usage scenarios to enable quick enterprise deployment. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: niroKey is a universal face recognition device for access control, conference sign-in, company attendance, visitor reception, and payment scenarios. It can complete identification with a seamless user experience improving the smart management efficiency of enterprise. NIRO-Key uses an elegant and round design, combined with 2.5D curved glass and matt white CMF to create a unibody design language for a more friendly user experience. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The device can recognize face in 0.5 second and realizes a non-stop experience. Compared to the traditional face recognition device with a single display screen, NIRO-Key has a touch screen, which brings richer self-service functions such as visitor service and self-checkout. Users only need to upload selfies to the cloud with mobile phone to achieve registration. The device has wireless control function allowing on-site upgrade to provide an efficient operation and maintenance. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2019 in Beijing and ends in January 2020. It was first released at Baidu Create 2019 – Baidu AI Developer Conference in July 2019. Then in September 2019, the functional prototype was exhibited at the 2019 Baidu 2019 ABC INSPIRE Summit. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In order to achieve rapid heat dissipation, the whole machine uses aluminum material, and the overall heat dissipation performance is excellent. The visible light and infrared cameras can realize biological recognition for high safety. The fill light on the top of the device allows the device to work normally in backlit or dark environments. The fill light is subtly hidden in the gradient printing details at the top of the screen, and the visual experience is completely integrated. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 400mm x 140mm x 140mm TAGS: Face recognition, AI, office equipment, smart assistant, access control, payment RESEARCH ABSTRACT: By studying user feedback on similar products, we noticed a user perception： Almost all similar products use serious geometric shapes with tough edges to build a professional sense, however this will make users feel tension when facing them bringing a perception of products being cruel tools. By this insight, NIRO-Key has an elegant & round design language to bring more friendly & comfortable experience. After recognizing users, the device can greet in a warm manner to provide user cares. CHALLENGE: In order to meet completely different use scenarios, the product has a modular design while retaining as many common parts as possible. Retractable, adjustable angle, flexible assembly and disassembly of the modular equipment bracket, can be adapted to a variety of heights of the desktop, wall-mounted installation, floor-mounted installation and other scenarios.
