| DESIGN NAME: Soothing Home PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Apartment INSPIRATION: Wonderful things, once emerge, will closely surround you as if spring rain that gently seeps through the skin and drop on to the heart. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This design project combining the styles of modern simplicity and heart-warming endurance create an elegant and comfy humanistic space where shows the pure and elegant residential aesthetics, thus creating the faintly discernible, at ease, and carefree feelings of space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In the duplex apartment, the original bulky staircase on the central indoor space blocked the natural daylight, thus generating the burdensome and dull feelings. To solve the problem of staircase visually and functionally bothersome, the designer replaced the old bulky staircase with the new open one has spawned a see-through, light, smooth and broad sense of space, which is now brighter than the previous dark hallway alongside the staircase. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The construction materials encompassing marbles, quartz tiles, iron pieces, natural brushed veneers, specific Japanese paints, engineered wood flooring, imported wallpapers, etc. spawn the poetic and happy experience of space where a wonderful life comes true, and core values of natural and comfortable elements are preserved, thus bringing affections and dreams into home. NAME: KEVIN CHU INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO PROFILE: For his art training in ink wash painting, the designer applies primary tone of design as black-and-white when selecting fixture furniture, which expresses the aesthetics of Chinese ink paintings. Idealized from the similar concept, the adornment of bookcase and swastika-style racks expresses the artistic philosophy of Chinese culture, which makes less apparent the inelastic plumbing. |
