| DESIGN NAME: Knot Knot PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant and Cafe INSPIRATION: Design concept Illusion of taste is inspired by The Hyper Realist Salvador Dali, designer develops a surreal interior space from the real. Magic mirror creates illusion that attracting customer into the mystery and maximize the utility of space. Customer enters the magical world and found numinous instagramable photo taking points. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Knot Knot is a well-known Japanese-western dessert and cake cafe. Young elegant style, with girlish and delighted tone paints the cafe with romantic colour. Artistic touchup in every corner makes the cafe an art gallery to hit the class of Japanese Dessert Master. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A marble bar connects the production and the dining area. With the precise use of art pieces, arch windows, roman columns, chandelier and mirror, the designer turn the cafe into artistic and surreal art gallery. A glass room enables customer to enjoy the chef to give the last touch of cake before serving. Mirror in the wooden arch window reflects the paintings on the wall, the bench and cushions under it provide a country style resting area. The magic mirror is at the end of the interior to create unlimited reflection of the center object to immerse it into illusion. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Italian turquoise handmade tiles and the dark walnut doorframe at the open entrance; leads customer to the cake display area and marble bar. 2 metal flower racks extended the gardening from outdoor to indoor. The walls are decorated with the classic frames with artistic paintings, the woodcarving waistline and ceiling, also and two Roman columns are the taste of Renaissance. The giant frame in the middle with animation blows a breath to the space makes this art like cafe into live. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The area is 1400 sq ft. The restaurant is located at Parc Central of Guang Xhou. TAGS: Dessert, Cafe, Ladies, Fancy, Elegant, Modern classic, Artistic RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research on Hyper Realist Salvador Dali and others on surreal art pieces in all aspects to come up with an easy digest presentation to enable people in all walk of life could experience the interesting surreal space. Finding result: Logical thinking and emotional feeling should not be contradicting but could be combined well to create interesting and inspiring space to deeper thinking and feeling. CHALLENGE: Art appreciation is subjective and designer to create a space with surreal element to make it easy to understand and enjoyable. The colour tone is extraordinary but still developed from the young elegant brand tone. New and loyal customer will be attracted and surprised by the strong identity of the cafe.
