| DESIGN NAME: Renovation of Dongpo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Theater INSPIRATION: It is hoped to gradually remove the heavy historical trace of the building by subtraction, and abandon the useless decoration, keep the imprint of different times, return to the initial state of architecture and release the lost space. The audience is like watching the historical play named White Snake in a cave. The surreal atmosphere is accompanied by a time-travelled performance that completely immerses the audience in the play. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Dongpo Theatre is located on the side of Westlake in Hangzhou, which was opened to the present since its establishement in 1992.The theater is mingled with the crowded commerce around it, which is more and more forgotten by the city. The renovation has brought new vitality to the ageing theater. The theater, accompanied by the rapid development of the city for nearly 30 years, has also branded the mark of various times. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Because the Dongpo theater is different from some government properties, it is a theater with a certain historical sedimentation. Therefore, we try to restore some cultural and historical memories of the early theater in the transformation strategy. In the design of the entire auditorium, we try to minimize some decorative elements that have some impact on the show. The entire design is matched with 3D holographic projection technology to interpret this love story that has been circulating in China for thousands of years. Let the audience immerse themselves in the whole play and feel the power and weight of the play itself. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project took one month to dismantle and construct the structure, and two months to install the electrical and mechanical equipment and internal decoration, the total construction period was three months. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To reorganize the hall space of the beams,columns,and equipment to make everything plain and orderly.From the bustling downtown into the lounge suddenly quiet down, the wall vertical texture of the concrete fibreboard and strong stair railings is a tribute to the memory of history. After the release of the space,the auditorium appeares more open.The concrete in the auditorium,the black steel,the firefly like lighting that seemed to be in ancient caves,all of which are for the sake of the repertoire. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: there are three floors, the design area is 4150 square meters,the building height is 22 meters. TAGS: Renovation, theater, original RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The biggest problem encountered in design is the urgency of project time. The whole construction cycle is very tight. From the overall dismantling to the structural reinforcement and transformation, the installation and completion of the mechanical and electrical equipment, We have to finish it in three months. There has encountered unprecedented challenges in previous projects. Therefore, we cooperate closely with various equipment in the early stage of design. First of all, update the drawing intensively to ensure the timeliness of the drawing. Secondly, in the selection of materials, we do a good job in selecting materials and proofing with the owner in advance, and make full preparations on the materials. The most important thing is that we strengthened the close cooperation at the later stage. Many problems encountered at the site were adjusted on-site in a timely manner.
