Interview with Chun -Fang Mao at Friday 1st of May 2020

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
CM: The rolling hills are transformed into interior spaces, allowing natural light and forms to appear inside, and then applying tranquility, harmony and oriental elements to the interior. Because the owners like the natural and simple feeling, we use wood, stone and iron materials indoors. It conveys shape and beauty, exuding modern new oriental features.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
CM: How to convert furniture, materials, colors, etc., and transform Chinese garden concepts into indoor paces/Combining the transformation of furniture, materials, colors, etc., the main purpose of transforming oriental humanities into indoor space.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
CM: We will announce the winning news to everyone

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
CM: About 3 months

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
CM: Entrusted to the scene for inspiration / decision to seek inspiration

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
CM: No / own production

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
CM: Weekday Observation Training and Cultivation of Space Aesthetics

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
CM: Mies adheres to the "less is more" architectural design philosophy and advocates a new concept of flowing space in terms of handling methods.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
CM: I believe the professional general public

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
CM: Inspiration from originality is hard to copy

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
CM: Daily observation and experience/Happiness, that is, psychological satisfaction

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
CM: auto cad and ARC software

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
CM: Bring the image of the East into the space and reveal the layering in the space by imitating the main wall of natural stone and the steel cabinet. From the inside, you can feel the stability and warmth of the overall design. Through a detailed interior design, through different materials and textures, as well as changing the interior of the individual and public areas, create a calm and harmonious atmosphere.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
CM: Construction team with professional license / yes

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
CM: Can actually present and complete the project

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
CM: There should be no / investigate similar items to identify shortcomings and propose improvements

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
CM: How to convert furniture, materials, colors, etc., and transform Chinese garden concepts into indoor spaces.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
CM: After internal evaluation, it was decided to propose

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
CM: How to complete the design plan completely and meet the requirements of the owner, more need to discuss and modify with professional skills

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
CM: Yes
