Interview with SHAO-FONG WANG at Tuesday 5th of May 2020 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SW: This motivation is originated from Taoyuan Martyr's Shrine. Taoyuan Martyr's Shrine is a devoted affliction in Hutou Mountain, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. It was built in 1969 and was previously called the “Taoyuan Shrine” during the Japanese colonization. Its design style incorporates the old methods for old Chinese Tang Dynasty, Japanese style, and contemporary Taiwanese style. The design creates a peaceful atmosphere, which symbolizes the valiant soul of the saints and emphasizes their solemn characters. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? SW: Three months FS: Who is the target customer for his design? SW: People who care about the details of life FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? SW: An accidental opportunity, via a friend FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
