Interview with 'ettomio at Thursday 16th of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? PB: To have a smart and nice tool for sharing moment of joy between joung kids and adults FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? PB: I wanted the learning tower to fold easily FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? PB: To be distributed in Europe FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? PB: more than 3 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? PB: I decided myself to create this particular yet smart tool FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? PB: I produce this work myself and sell by my company, ettomio FS: What made you design this particular type of work? PB: I understood this is a tool that modern families are looking for FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? PB: No. My work was influenced by the handicraftsman I work with FS: Who is the target customer for his design? PB: Modern families with kids of 1-4yo FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? PB: It is foldable in a easy way FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? PB: It is the way my older son called it first FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? PB: Most of all...Pencil FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? PB: The smart and easy mechanism that allows to collapse all the structure FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? PB: Yes, I worked with the handicraftsman FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? PB: not that important FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? PB: Yes, I did some qualitative market research FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? PB: Of course to find the right collapsable mechanism FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? PB: Once I saw it, it was so nice, neat and smart.. That I thought it was worth it FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? PB: I was very impressed by the talent of the handicraftsman and his crew
