Interview with Xizhi Zhang at Sunday 31st of March 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? XZ: This art work is inspired by toy blocks, which brings memory of joy to many people. Life needs joy! FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? XZ: The focus is to create tableware in a innovative way, that also has the conventional functionality. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? XZ: The design is planned to be prepared for mass production. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? XZ: The goal is to bring styles, functionality and fun all together for good dinning experiences. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? XZ: The design is currently not produced by a company, but is intended to after the competition. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? XZ: Any consumers that cares for a stylish dinning experience. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? XZ: The assembling and stacking design is quite unique. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? XZ: The name is simply showing the nature of this design. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? XZ: Ceramic technologies helped with the realization of this design.
