Interview with Akihiro Ichinose at Friday 12th of April 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AI: With our concept - we assist “shaping” intangible feelings and impressions -, we create the “shape” with clients, not only esteeming “functionality” and “design” in drawings, but also caring invisible things and matters like “cherished affections” and “heart-shakings”. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AI: I want to make a fun space with a sober image a fun space by design. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AI: about 1month FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AI: I proposed myself. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? AI: No. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? AI: For the employees at FUJI-SOSAI, tension fills the funeral homes where they have to work at every day as these are the places where people face death, and where utmost care and consideration are required. To help employees feel relaxed after returning to the office from these parlors, we designed the space based on the image of a “Cafe.” FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? AI: No. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AI: The company’s logo and messages one can see the moment they enter through the entrance is the interior’s highlight.
