Interview with Takako Yoshikawa at Thursday 23rd of May 2019

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
TY: As a woman this product is a weapon to be beautiful. I wanted to design a great weapon for women.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
TY: Be both beautiful and functional. Femininity, softness.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
TY: It is currently a limited sale, but will be released nationwide in Japan from now on. Then it will be expanded overseas.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
TY: It took three months to complete the image and plan and another three months to complete the design.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
TY: I started the branding project for two companies of our client. I also was in charge of designing this product to be released in that.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
TY: My company is contracting with our client manufacturer company.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
TY: I wanted to make a product that women would like.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
TY: Japanese women

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
TY: I designed the point as a functional like the collar of a Japanese sword.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
TY: I named it "nano airy" from the product feature that warm air of nano ion comes out.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
TY: The first is handwriting and then some digital tools.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
TY: It is a part like the collar of a sword the product central.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
TY:

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
TY: I reworked the exterior design many times because needed to change and expand the internal structure.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
TY: I received an invitation about the award.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
TY: I used many hair irons for more than 5 years, I learned a lots from there.
