Interview with Reham Ezzeldin at Sunday 24th of February 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? RE: a space that acts as a transition for users which should be comfy and for visitors that gives a luxurious impression. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? RE: Achieving and designing an eclectic style that merges beteween classic elegance and modern simplicity. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? RE: Achieving success globally and studying different cultures. I believe a house is a space that reflects people needs which differ from one culture to another. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? RE: It took me a total of 8 weeks after making several trials. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? RE: I chose this style according to my client requirements as I found suitable to fulfill what he needs. It is commissioned for a private residence of client of our design studio. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? RE: My design isn't produced by any other means. Our office will be working on the production of the whole house to come to real life. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? RE: My design studio scope of work is to make interior and architecture designs for our clients. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? RE: Definitely my team worked with me on th design FS: Who is the target customer for his design? RE: This an interior design for one of our clients and each client receives a unique design of his house according to his requirements and our design concept FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? RE: The humongous space was a challenge to create a different small sitting area and putting unique artistic pieces. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? RE: I wanted a name that reflects luxury and wealth FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? RE: First brainstorming and getting some ideas, then making different sketches. Finally we use 3d modeling programs to create realistic photos. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? RE: Trying to be artistic whether by making a special handrail or adding some artistic pieces FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? RE: RZ design studio ( my own studio) actually we did everything in it. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? RE: Using 3D modeling programs to produce a real image with same materials and lightings FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? RE: Design ideas from internet and books to come up with a new idea FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? RE: Thinking of each idea technically how it will be executed and the relationship between different materials since it's not only an image FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? RE: I heard about the competition and would love to participate in it FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? RE: Challenging myself that I should never be satisfied of what I design makes me always eager to design better
