Interview with Atsuko Tateno at Thursday 23rd of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AT: I have a dog who can tell me how she feel with her facial expression. I wondered the other animals can do the same thing with their eye. I wanted to design the images if they can. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AT: I focused on retouching the photos to have a natural and beautiful look. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AT: I want to be a photographer, and a retoucher. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AT: I wanted pursuit my skill as a retoucher. This project is my personal work. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? AT: I wanted to challenge myself to be better. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AT: This design is for the companies like, magazine, photo studio, and photo-retouching company since I am looking for a job of photo-retoucher, and photographer. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AT: I show the detail of animals very well. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AT: It is about the Face of animal, so I named the project. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? AT: Nikon, Photshop, Lightroom, and Pentablet FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AT: The background color of pictures has been changed to match the each animal. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? AT: No FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? AT: It was hard to retouch the photos to get natural look with plain color background. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? AT: I got email from the people of A’design award & competition to give a try. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? AT: I learned how to add text to the photos to appeal as a design project.
