FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
OS: I created Rome Cityscape Ring after my Italy vocation. I was so inspired by these tremendous buildings with thousands years history. It’s absolutely inimitable energy goes out from all these walls. I wished to keep these feelings I had walking inside Colosseum and on the roof of St. Peter’s Basilica. That’s how Rome ring was born.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
OS: Creating miniature of Basilica I tried to make it recognizable but not overloaded with details. I needed to extract the main traits and leave only hint on other. I followed my standards of proportions. It let Rome ring to be comfortable while wearing. Also it has to have a spirit of the city. The Rome ring transfers its character through structure, solidness and weight.
FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
OS: My dream is to be represented in world famous museums and galleries. A’Design Award will help me with this.
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
OS: In average I spent 3 days for each building, in total 2 weeks for design all the parts. And couple of days to finish it and make different sizes.
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
OS: As I make rings reflecting the most beautiful cities on Earth, I couldn’t avoid Rome. I have a lot of requests on this city, but it was not a commission. I created it for myself initially.
FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
OS: I make 3D design on my laptop and order manufacturing on one of the best productions in the states and I think world. Seven of my designs are licensed, but Rome keep for my own sales channels. In the future, I wish to install gems to cityscapes and this job I’m going to do by myself. I learned goldsmith and miss handcrafting.
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
OS: I turn the most beautiful cities to rings. I couldn’t to NOT make Rome. I was so impressed and inspired after I visited it and I am so happy now having such a reminder on my finger.
FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
OS: Architects of Colosseum, st. Peter’s Basilica, Trevi Fountain and Forum helped me a lot :)
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
OS: People who live there, lived and moved, guests of the city. Very often Rome cityscape ring is an anniversary gift, because it’s a perfect romantic place for proposal, wedding ceremony and honey moon. It’s a perfect accessory for Italy-lovers.
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
OS: I know only few designer who started to make cityscape rings as well. My customers prefer my cityscapes because they mark my creations are more detailed, solid, good polished and comfortable while wearing even everyday. I follow high quality standards and care about customers’ health - use only skin-friendly materials.
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
OS: It’s just what it is - Rome Cityscape Ring.
FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
OS: I used my favorite 3D modeling software - Rhinoceros and goole maps to learn buildings closer.
FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
OS: Cityscape rings are unique.
FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
OS: No. I always work alone. I’m greedy introvert haha :D
FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
OS: Technology while manufacturing plays a great role. I use one of the best service of 3D printing and casting. There are professional with a great practice experience and modern equipment. I pay my careful attention to manufacturing.
FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
OS: No researches were made. I created the Rome ring for myself. It was a way to express myself. To share my impressions after time I spent in wonderful Italy.
FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
OS: No challenges. I just followed my inspiration.
FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
OS: I find my designs worthy of the reward. I worked a lot to create it and find the result stunning. It’s really a honor for me to be rewarded by such a great international design competition. Thanks for founders and jury.
FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
OS: I just confirmed it’s my passion to make something remarkable, to amaze people, to make them a bit happier.
