Interview with Stella Guan at Wednesday 25th of April 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SG: The main idea behind this design is that there is growing frustration with online dating. The type of people we meet online, the kind of interaction we have online and the messages we receive online are making us feel discouraged about actually meeting someone there. I want to create a simple platform for people to share their dating experience while reading other people's take on common issues that trouble a lot of us, such as dating burn-out, sexual harassment, shopping cart mentality etc. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? SG: I want this simple platform to make people resonate with common online dating dilemmas and facilitate ongoing conversations about the modern dating experience. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? SG: I plan to launch it to reach a broad audience. I want to gather a large amount of user submission so that I could utilize this data to create a report in the form of data visualization and interactive infographics. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? SG: It took me about 3-4 months from ideation to revision to finally starting the design. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? SG: I designed this as a personal project, which will be published on my blog (http://www.dressonoma.com) that covers relationships, issues, money, career and fashion. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? SG: I own the exclusive right to this project. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? SG: Millennials (men and women) who are familiar with online dating. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? SG: My design combines bold use of gradients, a quirky style of illustration and a highly interactive header animation that flows with the mouse. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? SG: I use Sketch to mockup the design and I'm working with a developer to launch the website.
