Interview with Junhai Lin at Thursday 26th of April 2018

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
JL: The main principle of my design is to use the traditional Chinese cultural elements through the design approach, so that the customer's brand more in line with contemporary consumers. The main inspiration comes from China's Dragon Boat Festival culture and dumplings raw materials.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
JL: My design The main concern of this work is how to integrate our excellent Chinese traditional culture into this design work, hoping to show a better Dragon Boat Festival culture through my design.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
JL: Can get this award, but also for my design work in recognition, adhere to the design of Chinese cultural heritage, pushed him to the world, so that we better understand the Chinese culture.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
JL: Engaged in this work work more than than six months, from the previous market research to the latter part of the market strategic planning, I have to participate in the work.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
JL: The design concept of the Chinese character seal is inspired by the design proposal put forward by the project team after the market research is concluded, and has been recognized by the customers for this design direction.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
JL: This design work is designed for clients.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
JL: Because I like Chinese history and culture, I always hope to integrate some cultural elements into the design work.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
JL: Alan Chan and Daiqiang Jin, famous design masters in Hong Kong, have had a great impact on me. They are very good design masters and are good at extending some of our country's traditional culture to the rest of the world. I also hope that later they can become such a designer.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
JL: Their customers all over the world, there are many customers in mainland China.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
JL: This design has a strong Chinese culture, at the same time, this symbol combines Dragon Boat Festival unique dragon boat culture and Dragon Boat Festival essential elements of dumplings, while the logo has a more meaning: the main figure by the Chinese characters "true" and the Chinese seal Seal in China is a symbol of heritage and responsibility, a good example of the brand culture and business philosophy of Zhenzhen Laolao.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
JL: The name of Zhenzhen Laolao is provided by the customer, but I made a new interpretation of it and gave the brand a new meaning: "The old Jiaxing,The really taste." The old Jiaxing - can be the legacy of the traditional culture and history; The really taste - Authentic Jiaxing dumplings.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
JL: ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR AND ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
JL: With modern aesthetic, redesigned the classic elements of the traditional.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
JL: To do this design, get the support of brand research companies and customer related personnel, they have very high professional skills, and are very good.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
JL: The customer provides a lot of professional technical support outside the design, so that I can better understand the significance of this design project, better to complete the design work.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
JL: Will not be affected too much, but the analysis of the data received to me a great help.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
JL: The biggest challenge The original image of chaos, there are stores from the store to the visual inconsistency, the image of chaos, the need to coordinate the views of various parts of customers. Finally, the views of all parties incorporated into the design work.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
JL: In the encouragement and help of friends, to participate in this competition.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
JL: In this work learned, the design is the need for a systematic, comprehensive thinking is to solve the problem. Many design inspiration stems from the process of communication and problem solving.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
JL: This project is a lot of design work, there is no regret, I hope in the future can make more and betterthe design of.
