Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Anadolu Isuzu Design Team (AD) for A' Design Awards and Competition. You can access the full profile of Anadolu Isuzu Design Team by clicking here. Access more information about the award winning design Novociti Life here.

Interview with Anadolu Isuzu Design Team at Friday 27th of April 2018

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AD: User is the main principle of Novociti Life. The phrase “user” defines both the driver and the passangers in terms of design. I tried to reflect user expectations to design language while being strict to an existing product family. I also tried to manipulate passangers behaviours and improve driver experience by details.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AD: 02. I aimed ultimate user satisfaction while decreasing the production cost.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
AD: To design a couple of versions of Novociti Life for various uses are on our schedule.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AD: 04. It took approximately a year to complete design phase.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AD: The product has been designed for the company I am working.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
AD: Market expectations has changed. In addition to that, new regulations were our starting point.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
AD: Domestic users of small cities. It is foresighted to be used at short distant, historical districts, and narrow streets. But other versions are being designed, too.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
AD: It offers a better solution for passengers and drivers comfort.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
AD: Novociti is a new version of an older product. Life comes from LF which stands for low floor and also represent its usage, since that it has been foresighted to be used in smaller cities by being interacted with people, with “life” more frequently compared to other products of the family.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
AD: Pen, paper, markers, Photoshop, modelling and rendering programs.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
AD: Back side of the vehicle is unique. Engine compartment is totally accessible for mechanics and technicians. In order to achieve that, vehicles back side is designed as lids.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
AD: We did work with engineers and manufacturers for technical support.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
AD: It was influenced by some qualititive and quantitative research about the market, customers, passengers and drivers.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
AD: Budget and ability to get researches with deep insights.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
AD: We believe Novociti Life is universially well-designed product and global awards are proof of this.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
