Interview with Dimitrije Davidovic at Saturday 12th of May 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? DD: I found the main inspiration for design in nature. My idea was to bring nature into the home. I did it in a form that is the stylization of a lotus flower. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? DD: The main focus was to bring people together and nature together. If we can not take a man into nature, let's bring it to man. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? DD: My next task is, of course, to sell my product. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? DD: The entire design process lasted about six months. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? DD: Design was created as a product for one company. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? DD: I am producing this product. If the offer was acceptable, I could sell production rights. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? DD: No FS: Who is the target customer for his design? DD: This washbasin is made according to the order. Only the elite can afford it. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? DD: Every manufactured piece of this sink is unique. No it can not be the same while the competition offers mass production is not interesting shapes. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? DD: The name is a form. Abstraction. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? DD: Sketches, 3D model, real model, prototype FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? DD: The shape itself. Texture. Uniqueness. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? DD: I worked with a sculptor. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? DD: Technology is very important in this design. I used a cnc machine and a specific way of molding. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? DD: No FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? DD: Special mold making technology and mold casting. Also, the final processing is very specific to us. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? DD: I thought the world should be familiar with this design.
