Interview with Siam Attariya at Thursday 10th of May 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SA: The exhibition was about the business of humour, my inspiration came from the business magazine. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? SA: I played with the expectation of the audience, the same way with the humour works. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? SA: The whole project took around 4 months. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? SA: We worked closely with the client, at first they expected another way and we changed their minds. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? SA: We designed this project for the client. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? SA: We explored a lot of ideas, and this one was the best. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? SA: I got the influence from the business magazine. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? SA: Everyone. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? SA: When people think about humour, they always expect the colourful, fancy, and funny design. We went the other way. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? SA: The name came from the client. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? SA: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCad, etc. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? SA: The sense of humour. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? SA: We worked with several talented design studios. Craftsmanship for the photobooth, Duct Unit for the elevator at the entrance door, and Parallel P for the laser corridor. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? SA: It helped us create the uniques experiences and let the audience interact with the content gratefully. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? SA: We researched various mediums and communications on this topic. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? SA: When you talk about humour, people expect funny. It's hard to change that perception. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? SA: I got the invitation. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? SA: I've learned a lot of new things, with a lot of talented people. Most of them I don't sure that I could do it. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? SA: Nothing Special.
