Interview with Sidharth kumar at Friday 27th of April 2018

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
SK: I am a traveller and a photographer. My Philosophy of design revolve's around nature and its formation action into a new world.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
SK: I tried to achieve a balance between reality and the conceptual thought hence these design's fall into a category of ready to wear fashion. However, i have incorporated the craft and various process of sustainable design.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
SK: It will help me in bringing trust and their belief of consumer, Also about how sustainability can be the next big thing.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
SK: six month's

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
SK: pursuit as an inspiration, it is something which i strongly believe in.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
SK: intent to produce on my own.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
SK: To bring the sustainablity in its best form of creation through my inspiration and design philosophy.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
SK: no

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
SK: It is a transformation of an old cultural activity like Dakmanda craft mixing it with the existing form's in nature, I photographed the small little detail's of nature through my camera with the help of different objects like a bottle of water. Which gave me zoomed and a distorted form's in nature. Hence the collection is called "Hybrid". However I believe in less is more, So always try to incorporate existing things, like waste material, up cycling, recycling to help in bringing new sustainable future.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
SK: D.S.L.R Camera, hand embroidery, hand weaving, draping technique and deconstruction.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
SK: Sustainable process.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
SK: craft's men for hand embroidery.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
SK: construction.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
SK: Incorporating thing's together in a similar design asthetic's

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
SK: To get recognised

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
SK: Learn't about the slow fashion and how to find a way to it.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
SK: yes, I hope this help's me in reaching out to a larger scale of Audience to get them acknowledge and let them know how important sustainable process is in today's world.
