Interview with Roman Vynogradnyi at Thursday 14th of February 2019

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
RV: The inspiration for branding and corporate identity was taken from Scandinavian aesthetics of minimalism and nature.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
RV: The main idea of the brand was focused on the natural elements like hard metals, bronze, solid wood, stone and was united in this brand - its colors, form, and other design elements.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
RV: This project has already won 4 awards and has been featured on several professional design websites, it's a great honor for me!

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
RV: The idea came very quickly, it was literally one moment. Of course, after that time was spent on the implementation and improvement of the initial version, the development of the brand style.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
RV: The logo was created for company PTAHA - young brand of contemporary furniture designed and produced in Europe. The brand creates modern furniture for home and office.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
RV: It was a solo project.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
RV: The brand develops in Germany market, so the main target category is Europeans who love the modern minimalist design style.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
RV: The main element of the logo is a stylized bird (PTAHA - translate from Ukrainian) that symbolizes the brand name. Research phase included finding the inspiration that would come up with the perfect shape of the logos and will combine with the idea and look in the same style as the company's furniture

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
RV: For creation of this branding elements I used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
RV: In my work, I often use research in order to learn new things, to be inspired by other design professionalists. But in the case of this design, everything was very fast. It was an inspiration, just a design that I drew in my imagination.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
RV: The main challenge was to create which can stand out from its main competitors and at the same time looks very modern, trend and be unique and memorable.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
RV: I never even thought about it. It all started with publications and futures on popular design blogs and websites - this work was very popular. Further, I realized that it deserves to win design awards and be noticed by more people and design professionals. I decided to try. As a result, it turned into 4 international awards. It is a great honor for me and the company.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
