Interview with Jianhe Wu at Friday 21st of April 2017 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? JW: The environmental elements coordination is our main principle. For instance, the flow of air or the track of sunlight, etc. To combine the functions and movement of users is our main purpose to design the space. This house created a huge living space for user to enjoy the flexible space and take a comfortable rest while night time. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? JW: Wood material is the main idea to create the whole design. The wood texture can always bring the feeling of warm, and this is the main feeling inspired by clients. Making this home easy to live, and easy to maintain by several kinds of material related to wood texture. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? JW: The material could speak the story of itself, and I would like to share this idea to the world. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? JW: 85 days. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? JW: We enjoy using natural materials and pursuit the healthy design quality. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? JW: This is the project produced by myself. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? JW: The inspiration of material originality. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? JW: House clients. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? JW: The feeling what I designed for the clients. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? JW: BIM(Building Information Modeling) FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? JW: Special detailed wood wall. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? JW: John wu FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? JW: BIM, using this technique to produce drawings and preserve information. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? JW: We think this design challenge the resistances of old building, and we should share this project to the world.
