Interview with Asbjoerk Stanly Mogensen at Sunday 23rd of April 2017 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AS: We wanted to make a holistic designed electric bike. All parts are nicely integrated and there is a very intuitive way to controll the bike FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AS: Most important is the integration of parts. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AS: The bike is the first in a line of new models for Pininfarina FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AS: 4 month. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AS: We designed this bike because we found an available position in the market for this kind of product. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? AS: We only produce for Pininfarina FS: What made you design this particular type of work? AS: We found an available position in the market. There is no similar product available. We call it blue ocean position FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? AS: No FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AS: The ebike made for design lovers. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AS: Normally bikes are not designed with a holistic approach. This project is. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AS: E-voluzione means "evolution" in Italian FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? AS: Sketching, 3D modelling, Rapid prototyping, windtunnel FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AS: Integration off parts FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? AS: Windtunnel engineers, rapid prototypers FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? AS: We use carbon in order to make it the worlds lightest electric bike equipped with a mid motor. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? AS: We based our design on insights from consumers FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? AS: The folding process is extremely expensive FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? AS: The project has already won several international design competitions FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? AS: Let go of conventional bicycle making processes FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? AS: This ebike is a game changer in the industry and is already an icon
