Interview with Wilson Hsu at Wednesday 26th of April 2017 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? WH: We believe rain boots are something everyone needs; therefore, we are dedicated to improve wearers experience and make people’s life better. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? WH: We want to create a stylish duck boots but still remain it's function. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? WH: Keep working on more good designs FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? WH: About six months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? WH: It's because there're no many choices when it comes to suck boots, we want to create a special version of duck boots. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? WH: We have made samples of DIFFUSION, and we plan to sell DIFFUSION to international distributors, who are interested in our brand. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? WH: We want to prove even tropical countries can design good winter boots. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? WH: Me and my colleague worked as a team and we share the idea with each other. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? WH: The people who want to try new things and tried of old traditional duck boots. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? WH: We are dedicated to improve wearers’ experience. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? WH: We want to emphasize the concept of equal allocation of energy. DIFFUSION here means the spread of energy. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? WH: 2D drawing, 3D modeling, injection, FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? WH: We made three circles perfectly connect to each other on the boot. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? WH: We work close with a very outstanding product team that helps us realize our work in a short period of time. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? WH: Modeling and Injection FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? WH: No FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? WH: The Shield made by EVA is hard to fit, so it must go through many test and adjust the shape. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? WH: We have strong faith on our design and we are willing to share our idea with the rest of the world. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? WH: The way to do the combination between different materials on one upper. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? WH: No more, thanks!
