Interview with Fujer Selda Gümüs at Saturday 29th of April 2017 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? FG: Solving a problem in a innovative way. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? FG: Organizing food to keep them fresh longer. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? FG: It took about 2 months. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? FG: It was a midterm project in my junior college year. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? FG: Midterm project in college. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? FG: No, there arent. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? FG: Anyone who wants to organize their fridge, can benefit of this project. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? FG: Movable sections, a usage of net material, providing an organized shelf system in the refrigerator. These make Tazetut differ from other projects. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? FG: "Tazetut" means in Turkish "keep it fresh" , I try to name my design as referring to its functions. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? FG: Softwares like, Rhinoceros, Keyshot 5, Solidworks etc. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? FG: The most unique aspect of my design is that it can keep your fridge clean and organize at the same time. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? FG: I visualized then I used computer programs. Plastic parts can be produce injection moulding method and metal parts are suitable for extrusion method. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? FG: I observed and researched refrigerators' using process. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? FG: I tried to keep the project parts standardized as possible as. That is the main challenge for this project. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? FG: I heard that A' Design Competition when I was student, and I think, I'm ready for a new experience. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? FG: I learned that make a several prototype is a very important process for design. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? FG: No, thank you.
