Interview with maria blondet at Wednesday 24th of August 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MB: The main principle behind my design is to encourage people to do their best they can and make them feel good of their individual achievements.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MB: I want to achieve a ring that makes people feel great when they wear it. A ring with a simple design that evokes great feelings.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MB: My plan for this award winning design is to propose a version of it, not a ring but as a trophy to the government of my country to encourage a Triumphant Door policy in their agencies.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MB: This particular concept took about a week to develop and finish.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MB: This concept came from a challenge to myself to create a variety of sculptural double rings that were comfortable, light and look great in the hand.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
MB: All my work is produced by myself.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
MB: This concept came from a challenge to myself to create a variety of sculptural double rings that were comfortable, light and look great in the hand.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MB: no

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
MB: People that love art, design and like to be unique are the customers of this and most of my designs.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
MB: The way the ring interacts with the fingers makes this piece unique.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MB: The name for this design came from the concept I want to develop. Triumph Door means a lot to me because it represent our goals and it remind us that we have to give everything we have to achieve them and be triumphants in life.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MB: All my work is created in my jewelry bench with the traditional tools and techniques. This tools are hammers, files, saws, and flexible shafts.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MB: The most unique aspect of this design is how it can positively influence the person that interacts with it.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MB: no

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
MB: I faced a few challenges during the realization of Triumph Door ring. To make a double ring work comfortably I had to make adjustments and design decisions of how the bands were going to be and soldered in the final piece. At the same time, to make the two metal planes look light and like they are floating over the fingers I had to work around the positions and angles until I achieved without breaking the harmony and balance of the design.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
MB: I love and enjoy what I do and want to exhibit my work internationally to share it with other people that appreciates design as much as I do.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
