Interview with Viktor Bilak at Saturday 16th of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? VB: The main idea of the design project is image of pergola. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? VB: In main focus in designing this project was to achive the effect of openness on stand. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? VB: This project realized on exhibition MosBuild 2016 04-08 of April in Moscow. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? VB: I did this concept about two months. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? VB: This project inducted by inspiration. The idea of the project was connected with non-standard space of the stand. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? VB: This project realized on exhibition MosBuild by bilder partner EXPOLINK company. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? VB: Italian architecture influence on design of this work. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? VB: The wallpaper manufacturer A.S. & PALITRA is the customer for this design project. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? VB: The name for this design is the name of company-client A.S. & PALITRA. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? VB: During the working on this project I used Autodesk Design Suit, Adobe Creative Suit Design Premium, OCTAdesign, CorelDRAW computer programs. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? VB: The most unique aspect of this design is connection beetween the aesthetic image of pergola and exhibitional space of the stand. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? VB: During the working on this project I collaborated with engineers of exhibition stand. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? VB: This particular design used special technology for making elements of the stand from chipboad without joints. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? VB: The project required empirical research and selection of color of wallpaper depending from real context of nearby stands on exhibition. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? VB: The hardest part of this design activity was to choose the wallpaper in accordance to aesthetic concept of the stand and agree it with the client. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? VB: During realization of this project I received positive reaction from my client, builder and visitors of the stand. So, I decided to participate in design competition. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? VB: In this project I learned and used new type of lighting for wallpaper.
