Interview with ZHOU Wenjun at Friday 29th of April 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
ZW: We helped to deliver a comprehensive design to completely upgrade the image of this 1000m2 store

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
ZW: An innovative redesign of a state of the art and fashion shopping space to attract customers and effectively alleviate the impact from on-line sellers. We helped to deliver a comprehensive design to completely upgrade the image of this 1000m2 store, including: architectural renovation, overall interior design, product, brand logo and visual identity system.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
ZW: Publish and let more people know how good design it is, how work successfully it is, all publish for our teams and for our clients

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
ZW: About 6 month

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
ZW: For unique, and for best qulitity

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
ZW: There r 2 design firm, both r my design team, work for this, 524 Studio + 524 Architecture & Design We designed all, including: architectural renovation, overall interior design, product, brand logo and visual identity system.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
ZW: We're enjoy designing the whole things, not just for spatial, not just for brand, not just for product... everything need design, it's a integrated and mixed. we do well in crossover design.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
ZW: My team: 524 Studio + 524 Architecture & Design

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
ZW: each customers

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
ZW: the world’s first and unique handrail that grows up gradually from the ground (not start from the common 1000mm),contemplated other soft-looking facilities,fused the Chinese name into its English initials BBG, and used the images of four shoes as strokes of characters. tried the best to highlight this unique logo.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
ZW: Crafts-man for sculpture, worker for architectural renovation, and 3d print....

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
ZW: Everything is supporting, all for the design

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
ZW: Analytical research is needed before design, space, customer, others...

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
ZW: We need pay more times to persuaded clients and workers to understand our great design.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
ZW: Our design works, all of them r good quality enough, they had won many top international design awards for recent years.
