Interview with Yen-Yu Chen at Thursday 21st of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? YC: The common notion is that the toilet is unsanitary so that even look down on toilet cleaners. But people have forgotten that out growth and life is accompanied by it. It knows our secrets and the true side of us when you liberating or feeling depressed, the toilet always keeps you real. Simultaneously, the toilet seat can also transform into a beautiful frame and makes you an unique painting. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? YC: Everything has its downsides and upsides, so we should look at things without bias. Just like this artwork, I created a new scene and new meaning is given to the toilet seat. By doing so, I wants to convey the idea that external value of an entity doesn't mean everything. We should treat people and objects around us genuinely, and then everything would be so much better. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? YC: about one month FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? YC: cause I think most people despise the toilet cleaners, forgot the toilet is our most intimate things. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? YC: this is design for my own project FS: What made you design this particular type of work? YC: I love photography and design, and I always want to try different and special things to mix together. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? YC: only my classmate and friends. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? YC: I have not seen anyone use toilet seat to create a design FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? YC: "My dear toilet" means important and close to everyone. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? YC: camera, photoshop FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
