Interview with Andrea Mazo Viadero at Tuesday 17th of March 2015 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AM: When i was at the Design School i tried to avoid eat there because i did not disconnect and did not like the experience. So i thought about the people who had to do it daily at work and how the lunchbox do not help them to benefit the lunch break for having time themselves. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AM: Enhancing the dining experience also benefit people´s health. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AM: I would like to sell it in the market FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AM: I worked in this design about 7 months. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AM: People who think that their quality of life can improve with little daily details. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AM: Worknic has the function of a normal lunchbox, but with characteristics that make the difference. The philosophy, the materials and the usability are some of them. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AM: Worknic is a concept that joins two words implicitly in the philosophy of the product: "work" and "picnic" FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? AM: It is a design that transmits the warmth of being at home when you aren´t. I think that this fact is very important. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? AM: I had the help of Fátima Ferreiro, an experienced designer. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? AM: The biggest obstacle I encountered during the project was finding the balance between the philosophy, all the utilities I wanted to incorporate in the design and the physical characteristics of the object. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? AM: i am looking for job and i thought that it would be a good opportunity and experience for me. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? AM: i have learnt that a design never is finished. Someone can change it radically with his point of view.
