Interview with Dennis Fang at Wednesday 11th of March 2015 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? DF: The idea is coming from the hair curve lines, that I want to create an elegant handle within this curves. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? DF: For the handle we are focusing on the way user holding and try to make it as comfortable as possible. In the same time, it should be as elegant as it looks. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? DF: We are going to promote as world wide, and will promote the award and try to let more people uses this good design as possible. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? DF: it took almost an year to do this design, alot of modifications. And materials specs change that make the design unique. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? DF: I decide to pursuit the inspiration, and try ask people's comments and follow the instincts to finish the project. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? DF: This design is already purchased by some brands around the world. And people love the design and think it's unique and different in the market. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? DF: My family owns the brush factory Tong Fong. It is a very powerful factory in brush making. And that's where I grew from. After few years in new york of design learning, I decide to come back home and bring my skills back to the factory in order to affects more in brush design in the world. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? DF: There are engineers structure designer and factory workers also work on this project. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? DF: We are going to introduce to our customer KAI. Kai is a very well-known knife making brand. They also selling brushes in world wide. We hope we can sell this product and start our business relationship with Kai. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? DF: We use the latest FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? DF: Tender Care, means it's harmless and protect our hair. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? DF: Maya, CAD FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? DF: It's very rare to see two ball tips in bristle.
