Interview with Lawrens Tan at Saturday 29th of September 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? LT: Inspired by the bursts of fireworks, and the anti-flickering light rays of the lamp was the main idea when it comes to this design. The colour had to be premium and not too overpowering. Thus, the colours of gold and silver was proposed. To make the number 10 stand out, it had to be a bold and sturdy typeface, where it should show you the cutting edge technology it carries. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? LT: The focus was to create a simple and distinct celebration logo that tells the audience what the logo is all about. Anti-glare. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? LT: This logo will be adapted in all communications visual like brochures, packaging, website and any media that involves publicity or print. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? LT: It took roughly about two months. Research of the technology had to be carried out and studied in depth. We had to better understand what it meant to be anti-glare technology. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? LT: It has to communicate the light anti-glare technology and feature that it is a benefit. The next idea was to weave in the premium feel. That was how the metallic colours came about. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? LT: This design was produced by 3M on all collateral materials as well as packaging. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? LT: Mainly couples and families with kids and also working professionals who believes in eye protection. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? LT: Adobe Illustrator
