FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
DK: The main idea was making light-weight walls that can be manufactured in industrial methods and helps the pending shortage for building materials in the country.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
DK: We mostly focused on making earthquakes safer in a country that suffers so much from earthquakes more than 5.5 Richter, as well as reducing energy losses through the walls of a building. Also caring about agricultural soil was so important and using mineral materials instead of that.
FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
DK: This winning design must be manufactured in a huge amount. Then, soon - through an international agreement and investment that is going to be finalized nowadays - the great manufacturing plant will be established.
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
DK: It took about 4 years including all Primary and complementary studying as well as prototyping, testing and manufacturing in limited quantity.
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
DK: Frankly speaking, it was a private decision on a team, to make something special which is designed, developed and manufactured in-house with local knowledge, materials and machineries.
FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
DK: As mentioned above, we are producing it right know and some of the construction projects here in Iran have used it recently. And about selling the rights, It was mentioned above that we made a joint venture with an international company and are going to develop the production lines in different cities by ourselves. Then, No, we are not going to sell the rights.
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
DK: The basic idea came through the problems of using traditional building materials for wall section and the limit sources in supplying modern walls.
FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
DK: It was a co-operation of team members including two main parties, as well as some other friends or researchers who supported us by some mind-storm meetings.
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
DK: It is mainly for high rises manufacturers as well as mass constructions. But all buildings are going to be constructed can use it.
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
DK: Light weight as well as tolerance in case of earthquake and fire
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
DK: As it is so easy for installation, and as far as it is going to be used as a pre-fabricated wall, we named and registered it as EASYWALL which means exactly easy wall for installation.
FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
DK: The tools were mostly computer software such as Autocad and others similar ones.
FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
DK: Safety
FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
DK: Definitely yes. We got some directions by some university professors as well as mass construction owners.
FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
DK: For the moment, it is not depended to technology in a huge rate, but soon - by designing the new production line - we need to use more technology-based machinery to have more products with limit budget. Then, technology may help us in better and more products.
FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
DK: We had a complete research about population, the growth rate, and the future needs of housing, energy waste in buildings, earthquake matter and weak points of walls, as well as the export potentials in neighborhood countries.
FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
DK: The main challenge was making a right mixture of some mineral elements to make a needful mineral composite according to the target willing.
FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
DK: It was so funny. I like KIA MOTORS cars and by checking the website of this brand, I found that they do applying for different design competitions and awards. Then I searched the internet for a right design award for building materials, and then I faced A' Design website.
FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
DK: I mostly believed in our mind and willing, and now I am sure for our next building material research and design project, we will be faster and more accurate in achieving to the result.
FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
DK: While the face of the design and final product is so simple, but we mostly tried to design it safe, fast, easy and localized. And we are so proud of doing them all right.
