Interview with Marcelo Lopes Design at Monday 25th of March 2013 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? ML: To create an invitation in line with the concept of “taste meets the spice of imagination”. Playful, interactive and sensorial design. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? ML: Invitations were designed in order to entice senses and awaken feelings and emotions – touch, smell and sight alike. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? ML: I don’t have future plans for this project because the main focus was to developed the invitation for the launch of Agraz restaurant. It worked well and I’m satisfied. The future plans are only to include in my portfolio as one more award project and maybe to get new clients. (smiles). FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? ML: This project took 15 days to design. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? ML: This project was a commissioned design. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? ML: This project has been used by the client – Agraz Restaurant – restaurant of Caesar Park Hotels & Resorts. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? ML: The desire to elaborate pieces that touch the emotion and have a positive effect in people’s everyday life has always been the essence of my work. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? ML: No, I didn’t have any influence from other designs. I just created based in the briefing of the client. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? ML: The targets of this project was the Brazilian PR. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? ML: The fusion of playful with the all concept of the creation of the new brand that we created for Agraz Restaurant. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? ML: My work is based on playful, sensorial and interactive concept and in this special project it was possible to include this concept. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? ML: The sensorial and playful design. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? ML: No, we made this project respecting the briefing of the client. For us, for this project it was enough. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? ML: I decided to submit to A´Design awards because I very much liked the proposal of this international design competition and I believe in my creations, with this kind of competition, will be well promoted
