| DESIGN NAME: The Meteorite No K11 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Outdoor Art Installation INSPIRATION: The Meteorite No.K11 was inspired by the concept of a super being that travelled through time space from the future and landed on K11 in the center of the city. Its radial tentacles reached out in all directions as symbols of the eternal quest of life, evolution, technology, civilization and art. Situated on the main entrance to the mall, the eye-catching futurist art installation aimed to stimulate people’s imaginations of a super future. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: K11 is a brand of premium art malls. To celebrate its Grand Opening in Guangzhou and the brand’s 10th anniversary, the Meteorite No.K11 was created on the main piazza for festive occasions including Grand Opening events and Christmas. The 10-meter-high art piece took on the form of a radial meteorite. Its body was made of stainless steel, finished in metallic chrome, to give a sense of futuristic style. Digital lighting changed colors in pulsing rhythms to achieve a special visual effect. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Meteorite No.K11 art installation was part of the Super Future campaign, which combined the celebration of the company’s 10th anniversary, the Grand Opening in Guangzhou and the Holiday Season. The art piece was created, in collaboration with Blue Mount, as another example of K11’s commitment to merge technology, art and people in retail, and it served to inspire people to look into the future. The art piece was radial in form and four tentacles were rooted to the ground for stability. The surface was covered with punctuated stainless steel, some treated to have a chrome finish. Programmed lighting gave different visual effects for different events.
