| DESIGN NAME: Kowloon Restaurant PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior Design INSPIRATION: "Nostalgic" UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Kowloon Restaurant which is a combination of Eastern and Western Hong Kong Style Tea Restaurant. The restaurant is a nostalgic themed restaurant. We used elements such as Hong Kong's roads, streets, horizontal pulled gates, retro printed glasses, and the ground with mosaic to create an atmosphere that let foodies get the feeling of Hong Kong Style even if they are in Chongqing. The restaurant expresses these Hong Kong-style features in space and atmosphere. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Customer communication is the premise of design, and all designs are for customer service.Shopping and food, playgrounds and free ports, trends and traditions blend here, it is a small world of Eastern and Western cultures."Nosta PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2017 in Chongqing and finished December 2017 in Chongqing. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The doors and windows on the first floor are double-layered, with a folding glass door inside and a horizontal folding gate at the outside. The window is separated from the retro glass by a metal skeleton to form a foldable window. The blue tile is made by roasting clay as the main raw material. Mosaic tiles are generally composed of dozens of small pieces of small pieces of bricks stuck to a thin net, which is combined into a relatively large tile. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The design is divided into three floors with a total area of 237 square feet. The height is 4.5 m on the first floor, 3.2 m on the second floor and 3.4 m on the third floor. TAGS: Age, memory, resonance, Hong Kong style. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Chongqing is known as “Little Hong Kong” by the public. There are so many Hong Kong-style restaurants in Chongqing. To stand out from these restaurants, what we have to do is to “move” Hong Kong to Chongqing. The designer visited Hong Kong's streets and alleys to collect, experience and integrate Hong Kong into the design. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this design is materials and processes. Traditional processes that are not available locally or that are not possible at the processing plant are required and produced.
