| DESIGN NAME: GENZON KEXING TECHNOLOGY PARK D4 TOWER PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mixed Use INSPIRATION: The Kaleidoscope shape windows reflecting the surrounding scene on every folding glass, creates a landscaping that vivify this building. The mirror visual are in different angled, creates the refracted objects through the mirror. The concept draws people to engage in the district. By applying Parametric method, the media facade is smartly composed of merely 5 modules that generate the entire facade. It incorporates functionality, practicality and aesthetic all in once. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Located at CBD area of Shenzhen – the signature icon. A 10-storey atrium carves a greenery open space lounge into the mass of the buildings, creating a Kaleidoscope through reflection of surrounding scene on every folding glasses. An impressive collaged drawing on this development. The building facade is designed to foster a culture of sustainability. It is designed to achieve LEED Gold and Green building. The canopy serves as theatre experience – the mix of vibrant to serve the districts. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Kaleidoscope in Office Blocks Shenzhen is a modern metropolis, one of the major cities in Guangdong Province, China. In recent 40 years, Shenzhen has developed from a market town of 30,000 people to one of the largest cities in China which attracts almost 11.9 million people living here. The city has a lot of public open space which is supposed to strengthen this urban population’s ability to enjoy life. However, the new constructed high-ways and elevated bridges blocked the pedestrian circulation which made most public open space unaccessible, same for this site. Therefore, on the purpose to reform this repressed working space engenderd by high density and the lack of public open space, we make this center tower look like a Kaleidoscope; through reflection and juxtaposition of surrounding scene on every folding glass, it becomes a collaged drawing on this development. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Parametric Design method is applied in this project. Low-E glass are used for building this project. This project implies with Cyber Building concept, the addition to the Science and Technology Park of Shenzhen appears as the bow of a boat, pushing through into the plaza that surrounds it. By applying the parametric design method, the media façade is composed of a number of modularized units, each includes a triangular LED panel, giving the building the sense of being alive. The concept was to build the Heart of Technology City by activating social activities, by creating a public plaza and green spaces.
