| DESIGN NAME: Tutu PRIMARY FUNCTION: lighting Product INSPIRATION: Tutu was designed with a motif of dahlia petals. It is composed of many cylindrical papers. Each cylinder hangs from the white aluminum fitting with a red thin string. The material of the cylinder uses Japanese translucent synthetic paper. The designer expressed the vitality of the plant by many hanging crossed red strings. First impression of the work was felt as the image of the tutu of ballerina skirt than dahlia. The origin of the name of Tutu comes from overlapping the pronunciation of the Japanese cylinder "Tutu(筒)" UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This lighting fixture can shine many things light leaked from one light source. Each one is a simple structure. It is a rolled paper cylinder with a slit. It hangs a lot of cylinder from above with thin string.The shape will be completed by coincidence. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Add flowers to modern space PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Jun 2011 in Japan and finished in September 2011 in Japan, and was exhibited in Light and Building in April 2012. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Suspensions, ceiling lamps and wall lamp with pyrex diffuser. Decorative elements in Japanese synthetic paper, hung by red polymer details. Fittings in white aluminum. CHALLENGE: I had a hard time choosing materials to express the softness of the petals and balancing strength.
