| DESIGN NAME: Y2S PRIMARY FUNCTION: Resturant and Show INSPIRATION: The original design is to create a place for runway show, fashion collection and dining, as well as afternoon tea. Key words of inspiration are fashion, elegant, light and art. Considering the fashion and dinning are one way of art, the designer decided to combine the sense of fashion with the light of flying skirt as the design concept. Based on these general inspiration, the designer extracted specific design patterns, such as individuals, lines, kaleidoscope, flying, and turned them into real form. The individuals is an important part of this restaurant, the design of restaurant must take fully consideration of need of customers. Lines correspond to the fashion sense of space, while the kaleidoscope-style decorations quietly lighten the space. The element of flying shall enhance the agility of the entire space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Compared with similar competitive properties, the unique properties are, A. Unique design planning and market positioning. This is a brand new restaurant that pursues quality from vision to taste, hoping to give customers a different experience. B. Innovation point on environmental style. The designer made a very strong contrast in the materials and colours, creating a space-like restaurant with fantasy show. C. Innovative points on the dimensional layout. The whole space is a rectangle, with several bearing pillars in the middle. The designer unprecedently created a S-curve stage, instead of tradition T-shaped stage, in order to weaken the visual impact of pillars themselves. Tables are arranged on both sides of the stage, allowing customers to enjoy fashion show while dining. D. Innovative materials. To enhance the stereoscopic impression of stage, the designer decided to paint it with self-leveling epoxy white bright paint to create a light-reflecting effect. In addition to this, the designer has considered more than 300 decorative blocks in different size to be installed from the end of stage to ceiling, as if one’s walking in space. E. The outstanding operational success after opened to business. The creative has come to very good achievements, which perfectly meet the requirement of owners, but also a disruptive work. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Y2S Restaurant & Show serves as a place for dinning, runway show and fashion collection. It is an unprecedent combination between food and fashion, where customers may taste the delicious food while watching a splendid shows. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2016 and finished in June 2016 in Chongqing, China, and was opened for business in July 2016. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Major materials: oak flooring, galvanized sheet, steel pipe, black steel, copper plate. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: area: 500 sq.m. TAGS: restaurant, fashion show. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The owners wanted a runway in the center of the room, where stood three giant bearing pillars. So, it would impossible to install a tradition T-shape runway. However, the designer chose to dispense any traditional thoughts, and decided to build a S-curve runway around those pillars. Besides, the designer added more than 300 different blocks, looks like aerolite, for decoration. Therefore, the whole area would become alive without dull. NAME: Y2S Restaurant & Show PROFILE: owners of this restaurant are three individuals who happens to be very close friends, none of them had any practicing experience of food & beverage industry. However, they still decided to work a project together based on their common interests, food and fashion. Then they realized that there was still no precedent where people can have an exquisite Sichuan cuisine while enjoy a splendid fashion show in Chongqing, one of the largest city in West China. Therefore, they hired the designer to work out such restaurant so as to open a new pattern of practicing food & beverage business. The name “Y2S” came from the initial letter of the spells of Chinese character, which means a brand-new start and elegancy. The owners have poured strong feelings into it, on one hand, they wish the restaurant would be a pathfinder for this new pattern, on another hand, they choose to provide an exquisite Chinese food where Sichuan cuisine could be as elegant as Western cuisine. |
