| DESIGN NAME: Reading amidst the Scent of Wood PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior design INSPIRATION: The male owner is interested in music, and the female owner likes to read. They hope to have their own personal spaces for their various activities. The designer has taken advantage of the luster and scent of wood to create the base notes of the space, and established a vague domain imbued with the fragrance of wood and books. The space is therefore an extension of the elegance of its residents, and the residents can live and work in a setting close to their own tastes. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: "This space is a book quietly sitting being the table lamp. Each room is a chapter, and it makes people want to read on from chapter to chapter. And when you finish reading it, you will discover that each of these seemingly connected chapters has a different atmosphere, right down to the color of little corners." OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The couple each has their own work and daily schedule. The female owner's studio contains a full-wall bookcase and facing desk, and this reading area has no extraneous design features or decoration. This emphasizes the purity of reading, where a book in hand is sufficient to inspire all-night conversations. Music is the male owner's work and source of inspiration; he performs recording engineering work in his home workroom. The wood and pale wood-colored fabric wall coverings create a comfortable working atmosphere, and the storage cubicles covering the entire wall contain numerous CDs and books. This workroom also has a soundproof door isolating noises inside and outside the room. The couple enjoy a moment alone, independent yet mutually dependent. Respect is perhaps the secret of how different married couples can get along. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Veneer with mountain Macassar ebony stain and a curvy white pattern, kiln altered stone tile, titanium-plated panel, walnut wood flooring, Pandomo, gray glass SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: 112㎡. Four bedrooms, two living spaces, one bathroom and one kitchen. TAGS: Reading amidst the Scent of Wood, similarity in difference, difference in similarity RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The male owner is interested in music, and the female owner likes to read. These two individuals' conversations have a low-key intellectual grace, and their spatial needs are very simple, but they hope to have their own personal spaces for their various activities. The designer has taken advantage of the luster and scent of wood to create the base notes of the space, and established a vague domain imbued with the fragrance of wood and books. The space is therefore an extension of the elegance of its residents, and the residents can live and work in a setting close to their own tastes. The owners like to go barefoot in their home, and all areas have solid wood flooring. Apart from helping regulate the indoor temperature, the warm texture of the wood also spreads warmth from people's feet to their entire body and heart. CHALLENGE: This project consists of an older home over 15 years old. The home's pipes and aluminum windows and doors are all old, causing severe water leakage and lack of soundproofing. Many repair projects need to be performed as a result, and the demolition needed for repairs may also cause more leakage of the building's piping. Repairs will further cause much inconvenience for the buildings neighbors while they are occurring, requiring a major effort to communicate and coordinate the work with them.
