| DESIGN NAME: Twisted PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: The integration of a beginning, that has always existed, symbolized by the Moebius strip, leads to a new life. This ring encapsulates the profound moment when new life unfurls its wings, forever altering a parent’s existence. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The ring Twisted symbolises the turning point that a new life brings for parents. A symbol of the instinct to protect your child, even if it means everything is turned upside down. It is the symbol for love. Twisted gives physical representation to a very special feeling: The deep and complex connection between mother/father and child. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The ring hides a baby on the inside: When you wear it on your finger the secret of the ring is not visible to others. Only the wearer feels the baby. However, the ring band is twisted on the other side. It is a Moebius strip in which the inside and outside cannot be distinguished. A Möbius band design – a continuous loop with no discernible inside or outside – makes the wearer part of an eternal cycle. The twist symbolizes timeless beginnings, woven through generations – an unbreakable link between parent and child. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This ring is a further development to "Blessed Child" rings; rings with a baby at the inside or outside. It is designed in Summer 2023 in Langen, near Frankfurt /Germany |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The ring is a further development to "Blessed Child" rings; rings with a baby at the inside or outside. They are constructed with 3D-data and cast in gold or silver. I took one of these rings and forged the twist in the ring band. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The ring is proper, not to heavy, but also not too airy. Width 7 mm x Depth 7 mm x Height 22 mm. All all alloys are available. TAGS: twisted, Jamie, ring, moebius strip, birth, children, present to birth RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Twisted is a kind of a Moebius strip and the research about the physics behind that theme is fascinating. CHALLENGE: The design language is naturalistic and simple. A playful and kitschy style was deliberately avoided, to give the wearer the freedom to assign their own emotions and feelings to the ring. There are several design choices: A single diamond or a row of diamonds can be set at the top of the turning point. And of course all alloys are available.
